Linda Bergkvist Born 1977. Sign of Virgo - which should mean I am a rather dull perfectionist, all in all. I know I'm a hopeless perfectionist, but I don't know about -dull-. I hope not.
Aside from that, I got my Wacom on my 20th birthday, I think it was, from my parents. At first, I told them that there was no way I could ever, ever, ever paint on that thing. I would use it only to fix my paintings once they were scanned. A week later, I was hooked. I find that I can experiment so much more when working on the computer. I grow bold: I try new things because I can save the original version of an image and I don't have to worry about a good picture being ruined for all time, because I tried something different with it. I was always terrified of that. My brush was shy against the canvas, and it stumped my growth.
As it is, I'm just starting on a path towards getting better. I love painting and I generally do it for fun. When I work, I sometimes reference from photography – sometimes, not. When I was younger, this was regularly fashion photography (and quite heavily, at that! we all learn from our mistakes though, huh?) but I now take my own pictures :) and stick only loosely to them.
I'm planning a book on dark fairytales, and all the images are part of a world I've created. If you do not like fantasy, or pictures of fae and elves, I suggest you look elsewhere. It's the world of the fantastic that fascinates me, you see. I don't draw big guns, and I don't draw realistic things: I simply don't want to (unless, of course, you pay me - in which case it's another matter altogether!).
On my spare time, I spend time with my friends, and my cat Azrael, and I think I am - for the most part - an easygoing girl. Somewhat temperamental, but I'd do anything for my friends, family, and cat :)
Favourite movies: Clockwork Orange, Crying Game, The Name of the Rose, Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi, Army of Darkness, Donnie Darko, the LOTR series, Requiem for a Dream, Janghwa Hongryeon, Star Wars (first three, the old ones, not the new ones), the Shawshank Redemption, Psycho, Honogurai mizu no soko kara, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Pulp Fiction, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Memento, Fight Club, Seven, Dangerous Liaisons, Shi mian mai fu, Pirates of the Caribbean, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepers, Emperor's New Groove, Sleepy Hollow, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, The Incredibles, 21 Grams, Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, The Shining, Aliens, Spiderman 2 and X-men 2, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, La Cité des enfants perdus, Stand by Me, The Changeling... And loads, loads, loads more - I watch a lot of movies.

Favourite artists: John Bauer. Brian Froud. Tim Burton.
Favourite books: I, Lucifer, The picture of Dorian Gray, Series: Lord of the Rings. (I honestly can't list all the books I truly love - the list will be longer and more confused than the movie list)

Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (7 June 1848 – 8 May 1903) was a leading Post-Impressionist painter. His bold experimentation with coloring led directly to the Synthetist style of modern art while his expression of the inherent meaning of the subjects in his paintings, under the influence of the cloisonnist style, paved the way to Primitivism and the return to the pastoral. He was also an influential exponent of wood engraving and woodcuts as art forms.
Paul Gauguin was born in Paris, France to journalist Clovis Gauguin and half-Peruvian Aline Maria Chazal, the daughter of proto-socialist leader Flora Tristan. In 1851 the family left Paris for Peru, motivated by the political climate of the period. Clovis died on the voyage, leaving three-year old Paul, his mother and his sister to fend for themselves. They lived for four years in Lima, Peru with Paul's uncle and his family. The imagery of Peru would later influence Paul in his art.

Giovanni Antonio Canal Giovanni Antonio Canal (Venice, Republic of Venice, October 28, 1697 – April 19, 1768, Venice), better known as Canaletto, was a Venetian artist famous for his landscapes, or vedute, of Venice. He was also an important printmaker in etching.
He was a son of the painter Bernardo Canal, hence his mononym Canaletto ("little Canal"). His nephew and pupil Bernardo Bellotto was also an accomplished landscape painter, with a similar painting style, and sometimes used the name "Canaletto" to advance his own career, particularly in countries—Germany and Poland—where his uncle was not active.
Canaletto was born in Venice on October 28, 1697, to Bernardo Canal and Artemisia Barbieri, and served his apprenticeship with his father and his brother. He began in his father's occupation, that of a theatrical scene painter. Canaletto was inspired by the Roman vedutista Giovanni Paolo Pannini, and started painting the daily life of the city and its people.
